Here at Natalie Chan HQ, the fun never stops! Following on from our headwear launch and Melbourne Cup preparations we have been busily designing and creating a twenty piece capsule race wear collection. Our collection looks to modernise the vintage era while following a more streamlined structure.Think demure hemlines and fitted silhouettes.
The statement dress has been a go-to in recent seasons, however smartly co-ordinated separates are also becoming increasingly popular. A chic top paired with a statement skirt makes a great look and is versatile in the fact you can re-wear the pieces with other separates for a different look.
The 'Mirabella' blouse with the 'Esme' floral skirt with flounce hem.
'Clara' asymmetric top with 'Daisy' skirt, this skirt of the season features an exclusively sourced 3D lace cut with a shorter lining underneath
'Pulling it Together' blouse with 'Annie' Skirt.
Clever panel work on garments are another emerging trend, with sheer and lace inserts worked into our designs. Pleated chiffon makes an appearance also, as a feature on a drop waist dress.
The 'Hettie' Dress in floral, features a sheer insert on the sleeve.
The 'Hettie' Dress in periwinkle blue
'Lillian' chiffon panel dress, worn belted.
In terms of fabric and colour ways, lace continues to be popular as well as quirky prints for instance the bluebird silk twill we have sourced, or the horseprint georgette. Race days are the perfect setting to play with colour in your look, so don’t be afraid to try something new! SS14/15 sees early trendsetters embracing cobalt and periwinkle blue as the colours of the season.
'Flossie' bluebird dress
'Stephie' horseprint dress
Headwear trends follow in the same tone with modern contemporary being the keywords, elegant button berets with colour co-ordinated detailing are easy to wear, while the bold race goer can opt for large structured discs or wide brim hats.
For a complete polished look, accessorise with attention to detail: metal belts, envelope clutches and court heels are all great finishing touches. Look to complement your headwear with your outfit and also take into account your own personal style, but most importantly have fun with dressing up!
