A Taste of Britain at the Langham Hotel April 02 2014, 0 Comments

The girls here at Natalie Chan  just love a beautiful high tea! One where we can go to just so we can get dressed up and enjoy ourselves. I was recently invited to a Taste of Britain Tiffin Afternoon Tea which was held at the new Palm Court of one of Auckland's luxury hotels, The Langham. Perfect timing to celebrate the arrival of the Royals to New Zealand.

Here's a bit of history, the Tiffin Afternoon Tea was started by Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford in the 1840's and first served at The Langham, London in 1865. They have come a long way from Anna's servants sneaking her a pot of tea and breadstuffs!

The treats range from savory to sweets, which Langham Auckland's executive chef, Volker Marecek had created. I am so glad to to see the return of my all time favorite, the roast beef with horseradish cream on Yorkshire pudding. The last time I had this was Langham's High Tea Royal in 2011 and I still remember savoring each bite!

The Langham have also released out a new tea that is named "Palm Court" and it's a blend of Chinese Fujian white tea, Hibiscus Flowers, rose-hip peel and rose petals. I had this and it was served in a sweet Wedgewood designed china. You can also purchase the tea in their Flavours of Langham boutique if you want to drink it more often at home.

Going to Langham's "A Taste of Britain" also will put you in the draw to drive the Jaguar XF for a week.

Tiffin High Tea starts at 11:30am till 2:30pm Monday to Sunday.

Thank you Langham for hosting so a lovely afternoon tea, the experience was just too wonderful not to share.

Hope to see you ladies there all dressed up when I visit again!

Much love, Natalie xxx
