Canon Media Awards 2014 April 28 2014, 0 Comments
Following on from our insight into the Art of Black Tie Dressing, we are happy to announce Natalie Chan's involvement in this years Canon Media Awards. On the evening of the 9th of May, New Zealand's top journalists, photographers, artists, designers and subeidtors will gather for an exclusive black tie event to be honoured for their achievements.
On the night, two lovely ladies on stage will be handing out the prestigious awards while dressed head to toe in Natalie Chan and Natalie herself will be casting her eye on the crowd as the judge of the 'Best Dressed' component of the event. Both a Best Dressed Female and Best Dressed Male will be chosen, so this is your chance to dress to impress!
Ladies if you are still stuck as to what to wear, featured below are just a small selection of gowns available in the boutique.
Blushing Belle features a lined lace dress with full length soft silk chiffon pleated over top. As pretty as its name this ultra feminine gown would look great paired with metallic accessories.
The showstopping Aurelia gown has a gold sequinned bodice with a taupe and gold polka dot chiffon swept over in a one shouldered design, the full length dress falls into a voluminous circular hem.
The gorgeous Gabrielle is made in a beautiful magenta silk chiffon. The empire cut bodice features hand ruched pleating to create a stunning effect, this leads to a pin tucked magenta silk satin waistband and a finely pleated floor length skirt.
Velvet Beauty is a vintage-inspired number from the 1920’s, this exquisite rich red gown wraps around and ties up to fit three different sizes. With an inner tie to be tied to fit comfortably, the outer layer of the dress wraps around your torso and does up in a bow for the perfect fit.
Noir Evening is a beautiful dress made entirely in a dainty black lace, the bodice features a strapless sweetheart neckline with boning on the inner for extra support. The floor length skirt is knife pleated along the waist with a fine layer of tulle underneath which peeks out slightly longer at the hem.
With your dress now sorted, beautiful hair and makeup to complete your look is a must! We love going to see the girls at Bobbi Brown, where their ethos is one we admire, that makeup should enhance ones natural beauty. We can also fully identify with their idea that “Women want to look and feel like themselves, only prettier and more confident”. Bobbi Brown in Britomart and Smith & Caughey's both offer $90 makeup tutorials with a redeemable product afterwards.
The ever popular Dry & Tea blow-dry bar offers a menu of fabulous services ranging from a 'Blow Wave' of your favourite look ($45) to the more extravagant 'Catwalk and Party Ready' option (from $95). The girls here are on hand to truly offer you an indulgent pampering experience and as its name suggests there is an array of teas to choose from in their in-salon cafe.
So, for the serious contenders, here is what Natalie will be looking out for as judge of the 'Best Dressed' at the Canon Media Awards...
Natalie's Top Tips
- A floor length gown is encouraged, as to adhere to proper Black Tie etiquette.
- Consider a polished look, take into account accessories and impeccable grooming.
- Have confidence in yourself, might we suggest elegant poise, a beautiful smile and a sparkle in your eye.
- A well tailored black or navy suit in a quality fabric worn with a white dress shirt.
- Details should include a black bow-tie, an evening waistcoat or cummerbund, and black (polished) dress shoes.
- And of course with Natalie's penchant for flowers, a boutonniere will earn you extra points.
Best of luck to you all!
